Some examples of our community-building events include:

  • Outdoor excursions like hiking, skiing, and snowshoeing
  • Research symposiums
  • Mentor-mentee groups for new students

Student created resources include:

  • Crowdsourced course recommendations and reviews
  • Mini-grants and funding opportunities for graduate students
  • Twin Cities living guide

Recent advocacy focuses have included:

  • Anti-racism actions and efforts to increase diversity & inclusion in the department
  • Removal of the GRE admission requirement to the NRSM program
  • Developing an advisor-advisee agreement to facilitate conversations between new students and their research advisors
  • Improved communication and transparency between departmental leadership and students
